Example Image Sizes

What size is the image?

There are 2 ways to ‘measure’ the size of an image.

  • File size, this indicates how much space the image will take up on the hard disk.
  • Dimensions refer to the physical size of the image, i.e. its width and height.

The bigger the image (in both file size and dimension), the longer it will take users to download so it is important to keep both to a minimum, given what you want to achieve.

If you reduce the dimension, you reduce the file size.

Here are some examples.
